How to Create a Message

The usual way to create a message is with your normal Email software or web Email service.  Just use this as the "Send To" address:

It's a good idea to add that to your Address Book in your Email software or service.

Reply -- You may also create a message by using the Reply command in your Email software or web Email service to respond to a message from this group.

Caution:  If you create a message by using the Reply command in your Email reader to respond to a group message, your reply message normally gets distributed to all members of the group, not just to the message's author.

To reply to only the sender of the message, you must manually type in (or copy-and-paste) the Email address of the individual person you wish to reply to -- and remove any Email address or identifier for the discussion group.

For other options and troubleshooting hints, see the FAQ page

Guidelines for your Message

Bicycling in the Mid-Hudson Valley is wonderful, but our continuing enjoyment of it is subject to many pressures.  Please use your messages to encourage and support other members, activities, and organizations of the bicycling community -- not tear them down.

You and nobody else is fully responsible for anything you say in a message.  The "Moderators" of this group normally do not review or approve messages before they get sent out.  If you do not want to be exposed to the freely expressed opinions of any member, you should unsubscribe from this group (see instructions).

If you have a business or financial interest in the topic of a discussion Message or a File, you must accurately and fully disclose the nature of that interest, in each Message or File you send or upload about that topic.

All messages and actions on this discussion group must comply with the Yahoo Terms of Service.  To view these, click here

Messages should be plain Text only.  Please set your Email software to send plain Text messages to the message-posting address for this group, not HTML format or Rich Text format.  For more on this, see under Advertising on the FAQ page.

If you want to share a photo or other non-text file, please put it up on your own personal website.  Then type or paste its Web address into the text message you post to this group.

How to Post a Message

Send the Email message you have created to this Email address:

Note that if you use multiple Email addresses, you must send this message from the same Email address you used to join this group, otherwise the Yahoo Groups service will not recognize your message.

If you have created your message using the Reply command in your Email reader, many Email readers will usually send your Reply message to this group address automatically, and often with the correct "From" address.  But it's a good idea to check to make sure.

Administration of this Group

Yahoo requires that this group have one or more members who are designated as what Yahoo calls  "Moderators".

But these designated "Moderators" for this discussion group normally do not review or approve messages before they get sent out.  If you do not want to be exposed to the freely expressed opinions of any member, you should unsubscribe from this group (see instructions).

under Moderation -- In rare cases where a member has posted messages which do not support the purposes of this group, or a message which clearly violates the purpose or guidelines of the group, that member might be placed "under moderation", where each of their posted messages must be approved by a Moderator before it can be published to the other members or the web page. (Members who have a track record of posting helpful messages, or who make other valuable contributions to the Mid-Hudson skiing community, will often be allowed some "slack" in regard to the topics of their messages).

The "Moderators" will try to make a normal practice around the beginning of each month of deleting Messages from the Yahoo web archive which are a two months or more old.

So if you want to preserve some Message for future viewing, you need to take some specific action to do that (such as make a copy on your own personal website).

For questions or suggestions about the administration of this group, please send an Email to this address:
