A number of people were
walking across the obvious lower dam at the end of the road, and I
started walking also. Then I went back and got my bike -- and people
were surprised to see somebody riding across the dam and onto the
paved trail on the other side.
why I stopped riding + left my bike
-- instead walked up the paved road to the upper lake

steep, narrow, with serious consequences for a steering or balance
